Other Interesting Things To Do

The peace and seclusion of Rock Cottage is reason enough in itself to spend some time here. The only sounds for most of the day are the  singing of birds in the woods and gardens and the lowing of cows on the farm down the lane or the call of the farmer to his dogs. Cars are few and far between.
If you are interested in ancient churches, there are many to be explored, our own St. Margaret's church being one of the most notable for its ancient, beautiful and rare rood screen.
Historical Sites
The strategic importance of  this border area is reflected in the ruined castle at Longtown, one of a string of such fortifications along this part of the border, whilst its remoteness drew early Christians to make their communities here at, for instance, Llanthony Priory and at Dore Abbey, which are not far away and others which are revealed now only in names on the map.
